Heh. After reviewing my resolutions for last year, it really does seem I did pretty well. Sure I didn't build a fully-functioning space shuttle out of twistys, used Qtips, and empty pens and I blew that "drink only in moderation" thing once or twice, but I did get out of Cali and got my life together.
Not too shabby.
My plans for 2011:
1) Move the rest of my stuff from CA and complete the repairs to my homestead. These are all waiting for Spring and less-wet weather.
2) Take a few local trips. I've kept to the valley since I've been here but would like to see the Dells, do some fishing, and maybe spend a day in Chicago.
3) The usual "be better with money" gobshite. This should improve after I finish my move and I'm not paying $135/month for storage (my largest single bill after my mortgage payment) nor putting money away for the relo every paycheck.
4) Get laid more often. Who knows? Maybe even get a girlfriend.
5) Get another pet. Fred needs a friend. A descented skunk perhaps? ;)-
6) Not make more mistakes with women I work with. There's a tale behind this one which I will NEVER go into. Never. Never ever ever never.
Ever.
Well, at the Xmas party this year....
7) I've noticed a fire in myself is lessened. I no longer have the "start shit" attitude I used to. When someone got in my face, I used to attack- verbally, physically, or both. Now? I don't acknowledge it. I have to tell you, I'm not certain I like that. I can't tell if it's maturity (???!!!???), my natural shyness over-exerting itself due to my new surroundings, or a general loss of backbone due to having spent the last few years getting it kicked by almost everyone. I need to figure out how I want to adjust this and do it.
8) Not a resolution, but a hope. I hope my family and friends stay healthy and safe this year. I don't need any more scares like in '10.
9) Keep at it. I'm doing fine :)
And to those of you who aren't doing as well (and particularly to those being pissy because my life has improved and yours hasn't), I give you this advice:
Let it go.
Whatever's keeping you in your bad situation- LET IT GO.
Sometimes it's as easy (or hard) as moving. Sometimes it's your job, your attitude, your pride, your unobtainable goals, or your mind set.
Life is about change.
And thank you to the person who gave me that same advice. Took me a while to use it, but I'm almost there.
